I've never owned anything Skylanders before so this is my first entry. I bought this knowing well it was a racer only. I bought the PS3 version for my nephew as he is a great fan of the Disney Infinity and wanted to get into Skylanders. I enjoyed this as a racing game. It's nothing amazing as in MK7, but it is fun for what it is. I also like that the included Bowser is Skylander and Amiibo compatible. REMINDER at the bottom of the Bowser figure is a switch that'll switch between Skylander and Amiibo usage. Overall it was enjoyable and I only recommend if you like racers.Wii vs 3DSNote that the Wii version is the same edition but has an included same console coop. No need for a second copy like the 3DS. The reason to choose the 3DS over Wii, no switching figures. Once you register a Skylander to your 3DS, it's there permanently without the need to rescan. This means you can scan yours or friends collection to your hearts content. On the Wii you must rescan figures again. BUT, If you do not mind switching and playing coop on a big screen with someone else, then I'd go with the Wii version.I can understand why everyone is giving the game negative reviews, as the ad materials make no point to state that this version of the game is different from the console versions, and even on the title, the word "Racing" is in very plain looking text and no attention is brought to it, almost like it was just typed over the original title in MS Paint. For what it is, though, it is a good game. I've been wanting a Skylanders kart racer for a while now, and although this isn't perfect, (there really is no point in racing as a character that isn't "supercharged" unless you want a handicap), it is fun.We bought this primarily for the Bowser but expected a better game. The gameplay is pretty slow and lame. The levels are too easy and last too long. This is our first Skylanders on 3DS so we were a little unsure how the portal would work. I like the fact that once you load the characters then they're in there forever. Portable Skylanders is a plus. But if you start a new game you have to reload all the Skylanders again. We have a lot of figures so that can take a lot of time. The Bowser is cool though. Disappointing that Nintendo won't let their characters play on regular skylanders. We don't have a Wii U so this is the only game we can use him on.This is an excellent game to jam on my 3ds xl. I've been playing Skylanders for year's. Even though this is racing only, I am not disappointed. The best feature is being able to use the portal and put every character and vehicle in the game. This makes it very portable seeing that I don't have to carry characters with me. Plus it came with Bowser and his vehicle, just couldn't pass up the opportunity to purchase this item.My 7 year old son loves this game. We got him a Nintendo 3DS for Christmas and my parents got him this game. It was super easy for him to set up and play. He can load the Skylanders and their vehicles to the game by himself. I like it because you don't need the portal the entire time you are playing. You only need it to load the characters to the device. We got Bowser with this pack. If you've ever played Super Mario Bros, you will be as excited as I was about this. Bowser can also be used with the Super Mario Bros game.pros:the figures work the same alongside the others in the console version of the game and complete the collectionthe racing game is fun but gets old quickcons:it's pretty much just a racing game and although you can use all of the skylanders it's no substitute for the console verion. i think they made a big mistake here and really phoned it in not trying to port the console version onto the 3DS.Game characters don't register sometimes due to the portal being small, but fortunately you only have to register it once. Sometimes the characters may have to be placed on their back, or head, etc..I'm a big skylanders fan, I'm a little disappointed in that this seems more like Mario kart for skylanders than a typical skylanders game. We got it for the wiiu as well which has a story line that the ds version is missingSold as new but had clearly already been opened, upon opening found the batteries had burst and leaked inside the box (I have never seen duracel leak so bad) to top it off the game was the american version which was not mentioned in the description and will not work on uk devices. Wow. Luckily it was cheap and I only needed the portal.purchased it for sons birthday, game wont work, a very disappointed 8 years old and a very angry mum, now cant return it as amazon messing about with pick up . DO NOT BUYLike the other reviewer this item is for sale in the America’s only. Does not work in the UK. Reported the issue to Amazon.Don’t buy as it doesn’t work with DS’s from the uk!!!Stay clear.Brought this prouduct for my sons birthday when it arrived it said only for use in americas so I tried it and it didn't work so for me I will say avoid do not buy as now I'm haveing trouble getting my money back
